What guides my work

I’m Robert (Bobby) McElhinney, founder and sole proprietor of Better World Coaching & Consulting (BWC2). I work with service-driven individuals, teams, and organizations who carry real responsibility and want to do their work with clarity, integrity, and purpose; especially in complex or high-stakes environments.

My background shapes how I approach this work.

Before starting my practice, I served in the U.S. Army. That service included leading soldiers in combat; work that taught me what it means to make decisions when stakes are real and people are depending on you. I continued my commitment to public service as a federal civil servant, including at the U.S. Department of State, where I lead global training efforts and support complex, mission-driven programs. These experiences have shaped how I work with leaders and teams operating under pressure, where decisions have real consequences and follow-through matters.

That experience informs my approach today.

I blend individual coaching and team facilitation because how people think, decide, and lead directly affects how teams function and how organizations perform. I draw on strengths-based coaching and Positive Intelligence–informed practices to help clients build self-command, improve mental fitness, and translate insight into meaningful, sustained action.

What clients can expect.

Clients often describe my style as thoughtful, grounded, and direct. I don’t bring one-size-fits-all solutions. I focus on practical progress, strengthening judgment, improving collaboration, and helping leaders guide people and organizations through change with clarity and steadiness.
